FILLING LARGE HOLES
HTS-2000 was designed to bridge holes, therefore holes up to approximately 9mm can be covered easily without dropping through. Larger holes can be covered easily by using steel as backing or by using a patch. Use any compatible metal for the patch.

Without Patch
Ÿ
Clean the work surface and ‘tin’ the entire inside of hole with rod.
Ÿ
Clamp a piece of steel or iron at the back of the hole.
Ÿ
Since the hole has already been ‘tinned’, you can work immediately in the flame as you are merely adding rod to rod. Completely fill the hole.
Ÿ
Allow to cool and grind or file the surface to suit.

Surface Patch
Ÿ
Clean and tin the item and the patch.
Ÿ
Position the patch and bring up to temperature to join.
Ÿ
Add a fillet around the patch if desired.

Flush Patch
Ÿ
Cut a patch to fit the hole and V out the mating edges.
Ÿ
Clean and tin the item and the patch.
Ÿ
Clamp the patch in place and join using the basic brazing technique.
