Check that the alloy is not a low melting point one by heating in an unimportant place until HTS-2000 melts on the metal. If the metal starts to melt at about the same time, treat like pot metal, otherwise treat like aluminium.
Bring the alloy temperature to 392°C until the rod melts. If oil reappears, greys or blackens, re-clean the base metal and continue with the repair.
